Valentine’s Day can be stressful, whether you have a sweetheart or you’re flying solo. This super sweet tie-dye project is the perfect idea for a V-Day date night, or you can gift your creations to that special someone (or to your even more special self!) in your life. Our friend Jackie Spencer shows us how to use the Tulip Color Craze! One-Step Tie-Dye Kit to create a lovely look that will fill your heart with joy!

What you need:

- Tulip Color Craze! One-Step Tie-Dye Kit

- White or light-colored natural fiber shirt

- Towel or wire rack

Prepare your tie-dye tools

Before you get started on your project, you’ll want to prepare your tools. Prewash the shirts that you will be dyeing and leave them slightly damp. Follow the instructions on your Tulip One-Step Tie-Dye Kit to prepare your dyes, and cover your workspace to avoid a mess.

Tie your shirt with rubber bands

Take a handful of fabric from your shirt and wrap it with a rubber band. Repeat to create multiple clumps throughout the shirt.

Apply dyes to shirt.

Now it’s time to apply the dye. Use whichever colors you’d like to design your shirt— this is your time to be creative! Work the dye through with your hands if needed, getting into the crevices and backside of the shirt. You can lay down a towel or a wire rack to catch the excess dye.

Let dye set and wash according to package instructions.

Cover your shirt with plastic and let it set for 6-8 hours, or longer for more intense colors. Rinse with warm water until water runs clear, then machine wash and dry according to package instructions. Repeat these steps to create a matching shirt for your sweetheart— your Valentine will love it!
