Prewash your fabrics, then choose your folding technique
Before you get started, prewash (and dry, if using the dry technique) the clothes you will be dyeing to remove sizing. Then choose your technique for folding and binding your project. In this example, Stephanie Walfield uses the accordion tie-dye technique. Secure with rubber bands.
Prepare the tie-dye solutions
Prepare the tie-dye solutions according to the package instructions. Add water to each bottle at the indicated “Water Fill” line. Reattach the nozzle with cap on and shake vigorously for a minimum of 1 minute.
Apply the dye solution to each section of the sweatsuit.
Apply your desired colors of dye solution to each section, getting into all of the folds and crevices. Be sure to wear gloves during this step! To help the fabric absorb the dyes, work the solution into the fabric using your hands as you apply it.
Accordion tie-dye sweaters with Tulip Wilderness One-Step Tie-Dye Kit
Cover the dyed fabric with plastic wrap to keep damp and let set for 6 to 8 hours, then wash and dry according to package instructions. Now you have a loungewear set that will keep you cozy and fashionable all season long!
