Spider Technique

Tie Dye Basics
Pinch and bind fabric several inches apart randomly over fabric.

Step 1:

Fold damp shirt in half.

Apply dye to pinched tips.

Step 2:

Pinch shirt where you would like center of spiral to be. Twist until entire shirt is spiraled.

Apply dye to remaining fabric.

Step 3:

Bind spiral with three intersecting rubber bands to create six wedge shapes.

Apply dye to remaining fabric.

Step 4:

Apply a different color of dye onto each wedge shape. Carefully flip spiral over and apply corresponding colors to backside.

Apply dye to remaining fabric.

Step 5:

Apply black dye to one side of spiral, completely covering other colors. Cover with plastic wrap to keep damp. Let set 6 to 8 hours, rinse thoroughly and wash separately.
